Trying to decide: House or apartment?
Because of the land characteristics, buildings in Bonaire can´t be more than 3 stories high; however, if you choose an apartment close to the Malecon, you’ll have a lovely view of the Caribbean Sea.
Do you think houses are your thing? You might take a view of the beautifully built houses in the island, the salt piles and some historical places such as the slave huts, located really close.
Once you have decided to move to Bonaire, you need to make a list of what you want to have close your home:
• Recreation: Diving, hiking, restaurant and dancing places must be in this line!
• Work: Where do you work? Is it close to the Malecon? Or in the way to Rincon?
• Interesting places: What do you like to do? Do you enjoy watching the donkeys walk? Or would you prefer to practice windsurfing in Sorobon?
How close or how far are you from those places? Do you have a car? It’s good to remember that Bonaire only covers an extension of 288 km2 so almost everything will be close! Riding a bike is also a great idea, because it´s great excercise, and you will save a lot of money on gas!
This checklist is not only useful for living in Bonaire: if you are just visiting the island, this guide will also help you find a beautiful place to enjoy your vacation.
